Morrell Facility

Morrell Plating has been providing its customers with quality plating since 1961. We are located in Dallas, next to Love Field Airport. Our predominant product is zinc plating. We can plate a range of items from small fasteners to larger pieces up to 8 feet in length.

As a family business, James and Billy Morrell managed the company for decades. In 2023, ownership was passed to a new family to continue the tradition of the high quality and service. Craig Routledge now heads the business, while maintaining the existing company name and reputation.

Zinc Plated Parts

Zinc plating is one of the most common and economical types of plating. Many fasteners and fittings found at the hardware store have been zinc plated. Zinc plating is a sacrificial coating designed to corrode preferentially before the underlying steel. One of limitations of zinc is that, when the plating begins to corrode, an unsightly "white rust" develops. It is typically finished with a very fine chromate layer on top of the zinc to provide further protection and significantly delay the onset of white rust. The chromates are available in clear (also called silver or white), yellow, blue, and black.

We perform zinc electroplating as opposed to galvanizing which in common parlance usually refers to a dip in molten zinc. Electroplating can deposit very thin layers to avoid filling in threads or exceeding other tolerances.
